Young at Heart is a ministry for adults 50+. It offers many opportunities for service and fellowship.
We try to reach out to each other's needs. We take literature and recordings to homebound members. We have members who do minor repairs and maintenance tasks for those unable to do their own. We supply rides in the local area for medical appointments and such.
We have our Senior Adult Minister, Bro. Bill Price, who is like our own chaplain. He is there in times of grief and when other needs come up.
We have a Senior Adult Bible Study led by Bro. Jay Bowen. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Once a month, there is a covered dish and game night held in the church gym. The buffet-style serving goes quickly, and on the month of your birthday, you are honored by being at the head of the line! After dinner, it's on to a fun time playing games in groups. There are many to choose from, such as Joker, Mexican train, 42, or whatever your group may want to play.
Monthly, and sometimes more often, there are outings of various kinds. There are trips to Sam Moon, Grapevine Mall, and other shopping trips. There are trips to various sights of interest, lunches at special restaurants, concerts, local and not so local. We have been to the U.S. Mint in Fort Worth, the Kennedy sights in downtown Dallas, and the Biblical Arts Center, to name a few. Christmastime includes a trip to one of the special parks in the area, with drive-thrus decorated with all the special sights of the season. There are also trip to senior conferences at other area churches.
Many events, like some concerts are at no cost. Others are at minimal cost.
All of this is intended to organize and coordinate help to fill the needs of our senior adults. We strive to provide Christian-based fellowship and service. YAH strives to present Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior to the lost in a spirit of warmth and love; and "encourage the saints" in His service.
